Sonospheric Investigations

Matt Parker is a sonospheric investigator; an artist working with and producing archives that amplify the hidden connections between every-day technologies and the environment. His multimedia works are influenced by the practice of listening; to unsound vibratory ecologies, to the economies of noise, and the infrastructures of the Internet.

He is currently completing a PhD on the topic of sound, place and media infrastructures at the London College of Communication, UAL, and has a Masters in Music Technology from the Birmingham Conservatoire. Matt is the winner of the Deutsche Bank Creative Prize in Music 2014, winner of New Art West Midlands 2016, and was shortlisted for the Aesthetica International Art Prize 2015. He has been artist in residence at The National Museum of Computing, Bletchley Park in 2015 and a MEAD Resident with the British School at Rome in 2017. His work has been exhibited and screened internationally, including Bletchley Park, MK Gallery/MK Central Library, Univeristy of Cambridge Computer Laboratory, The British Library, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, the Herbert Gallery, Brighton Digital Festival (UK), Les Subsistances (FR), Without Words Film Festival (FR) Electronic Media Arts Festival (DE), ZKM Gallery (DE), SXSW (US), Glitch (MX), Melbourne Fringe Festival (AU), The British School at Rome (IT), Università Iuav di Venezia (IUAV) (IT), The LAB (IE), Science Gallery Dublin (IE) and Kochi Muziris Biennale (IN).

He is the director of media infrastructural investigative collective The People’s Cloud.
